Is it true the NAFFI had a book on how to make a sandwich. Basically a ham and tomatoe sandwich consisted of a piece of ham with two slices of tomatoe on the cut line and sod all else where. Then wrapped copiously in cling film. Is my memory right.

Who rememebers the "Cream Soda" at Laarbruch and what did one cost and what was in it

I see I've been singled out again for special treatment from Messrs Sontag and Brown.......well no problem if they both wish to use me as a mask for their own quite obvious pie related problems then that's fine with me, but I think that they should at least admit that they have seen the wrong side of a shit load of meat and pastry and that possibly if they had thrown in a few croissants they may not have that shooting pain going up the left arm................anyway my problems are totally pie unrelated and all to do with thyroid problems so there...

I think I can remember Sandy and his wonderfully dodgy pies ..........ahhhhhhh to be in England in the Naffi break..
I remember when they installed the first microwave in the Naffi at Maidstone had more rodents and frogs cooked in than food !!!!!

Funny you should say that Tony. I did see one aircraft struggling to take off and almost getting off the ground with engines at full thrust. It ploughed through the fence at the end of the runway and went off up the road. Guees it was cols flight

Bob

I didn't actually say Gatwick airport was in Kent its just the nearest county to FRANCE. Anyway, just shows how well my brainwashing over the last 20 years living up here has gone. I cant remember a thing. I cant believe you eat your pies neat Bob...how soft. We don't even defrost them up here. Obviously with my geographical knowledge of the south the chance of me ever finding a reunion are slim. I dare say if it were not for sappers there would be no pies in Gillingham and it would soon be the Penini capital of England

Couple of years ago I was down at Gatwick airpoprt. Typical thing, check in find somewhere to sit and get something to eat. Now I was thinking...sort of Steak and kidney pie or meat and onion and a coffee. But despite my search I could not find anyone selling them. Plenty of Panninis (flip flop sort of thing with cheese),cuossant (or however its spelt) Latte coffee, mocco and on and on with various continental stuff. So I said to a woman. "Dont you do pies anywhere" and she said no not in this part of the country. WHAT. Now I have served the 20 year of a lancashire Northener appreticeship and I don't know what has happened to all you Southern Jessy's but WHERE HAVE THE FRIGGING PIES GONE. Dont blame me I dont come down South much these days. So is it true are we becoming a Pieless nation of Latte drinking wooses. Get a grip Kent your be talking French next. So is this true. Please tell me John W Scotland is holding out and you can still buy a pie in Scotland. I get the impression the Latte may have secretly crept in over night. Although as I remember at Glasgow central the most tradition Scottish thing on the menue was the 12 pints of Heavy and a Head Butt

Sonny,

Shame about your geography, Gatwick Airport is in Surrey!!
If you go to Gilligham (in Kent) there are loads of places where you can get a pie! Some places even sell them with gravy, for you soft Northeners. The hard guys in Kent take their pies neat!

I know exactly what you mean.

Whilst in Kent last week visiting the outlaws we stayed in Gillingham.

When asked what I would like for breakfast I gave my order for the usual good old English , tasteless bacon (as per the norm for hotel cuisine), fatty sausages (which came as standard), eggs with runny yolks and to complete the set I asked for black pudding. 'Whats that ?' asked the spotty faced school leaver serving our table.

I then came to the conclusion that we have lost our identity. sad1 sad1
